Having lost the qualification for the African tournament again, leaving lots of Nigerians disappointed, The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) this week reiterated their resolution to ensure that the African giant qualify for the World Cup Finals billed for Russia in 2018.

The spokesman for the Football Federation, Ademola Olajire, released a statement in Lagos, Nigeria.

He said: “The Executive Committee resolved that the Board, Management, Players and officials of the Super Eagles, and indeed every personality involved one way or the other, must work assiduously to ensure Nigeria’s qualification for the World Cup. The Committee received reports from the ad-hoc committees put in place to compose governance structures for the Nigeria National League, Nigeria Women Football League and Nationwide League One. It also directed that all efforts must be made by the different leagues to start their seasons as soon as possible.”

Nigeria recently lost of the African Cup finals after losing to Egypt. The loss drew the ire of Nigerians who had rallied around to support the team. (more…)

Wayne Rooney is struggling to score goals, his last one was back in April

Wayne Rooney has not scored a single goal from the opening 3 matches of the season of Manchester United as the English attacker is having a difficult time trying to become the reliable goal-scoring output that was expected of him in this new season.

The attacking department of Manchester United is not the same it was a few seasons ago when it had Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie scoring goals on a consistent basis. Robin van Persie made his way to Fenerbahce and Louis van Gaal signed Memphis Depay but despite having the combination of Rooney alongside with Depay, the Premier League club has only managed to score 1 goal from the opening 3 games of the 2015-16 season of the Premier League.

There is more pressure which is being placed on Wayne Rooney than any other player as the captain has not found the way to push his team forward and he has not managed to score a goal for Manchester United since April when he found the back of the net when facing off with Aston Villa. (more…)

Samuel Eto’o is leaving Sampdoria in the summer

Samuel Eto’o joined Sampdoria in January of the current year as he signed a 2 year long contract but the president of the Italian club has confirmed that Eto’o will not be able to fulfill his entire contract as the player will be leaving Sampdoria after failing to impress.

Eto’o made a total of 18 appearances and has scored only 2 goals. Massimo Ferrero has revealed information concerning the situation of Eto’o as the president of Sampdoria said: “I think this little bird is destined to fly towards other shores,” said Ferrero.

“As far as I’m concerned, he could stay for life as I wanted him and chose him to come here. He is a great champion but if he wants to leave, then he can follow his heart… and his wallet.”

Sampdoria want to have a player that can help them in their journey of snatching a top spot in the Italian League, Serie A and Eto’o has not lived up to this task. (more…)

Samuel Eto’o says Punishment should be given to Racists

Former Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o says that stricter punishments should be given to those found guilty of racism.

The former Cameroon international was speaking on the occasion of a future a difference being found guilty of racially abusing a French national when they were travelling through Paris. Chelsea played against Paris St Germain in a recent Champions League match, but the off the field activities dominated the headlines for several weeks. A group of five France were captured on video racially abusing a French national who tried to board a train.

Eto’o has been subjected to racial abuse himself in the past. After having played in four major leagues like England, Spain, Italy, and Russia, the striker says that he has suffered those issues himself. One of the ways to combat racism is to increase the punishment. Chelsea have given suspension to the five supporters identified using the video. These supporters could potentially be banned from Stamford Bridge for the rest of their life. (more…)
